Friday | 6 November 2015 | 20:00
Exhibition opening with visual artists, Daphne Trimikliniotis & Spyros Demetriades.
Exhibition Duration: 6 - 25 November 2015
The new series of paintings by Renos Efessopoulos, entitled Glass Fence, creates an evolving aesthetic and in depth exploration of his childhood memories. To portray their individual personality, the goats are singled out from the herd and placed onto the canvas. By transforming the identity of the modest figure of the goat, the artist creates a dialogue by projecting his perceived characteristics onto it, and thereafter inviting the viewer to do the same.
The background is inspired by the palette of cartoon colours. Bearing a ‘pop’ aesthetic, the colours evoke a sense of space inferring to a morning sky, the waters of a lake, dusk etc. Every composition becomes a visual play-discovery, inviting the observer into the painted space in order to form his own narrative. The background, in turn, is an open and unforeseen path for the goat itself to discover and thereby be discovered. The exhibition is presented in the format of an archive, with titles which enhance the fictional temperament that the artist wishes to reveal.
